• Lineage 2 private servers Addicting Game News

Are private servers for currently-running massive multiplayer games illegal? It depends a lot on your interpretation of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act. Blizzard has won battles in court against "emulated servers", but it seems that other publishers have no problem with fans running their own private servers as long as they are for free.

The game that has one of the larger followings of private servers is Lineage II. It has had decent success here in the US, but it's much more popular in the developers' native country of South Korea and in other countries in Asia. With an anime style and a brutal levelling curve (where months of play, even at eight hours per day, won't even put you close to the maximum attainable level), it satisfies both the tastes and need for challenge that Korean players have. But in the US, many players found the game's incredibly long "grind" just way too much to swallow - and those who love PvP aren't happy with the fact that even PvP deaths in Lineage II result in a considerable XP loss (even if someone much higher level than you kills you in a single hit).

  • Ms. Pac-Man Addicting Game News

Ms. Pac-Man is the lady-friendly follow-up to Pac-Man. It's the same basic dot-chomping, maze-navigating concept, but it's expanded. There are now multiple mazes, the fruit hops around, and the cutscenes are slightly more elaborate. Oh, and Ms. Pac-Man has a bow on her head. Like the other Namco releases for Xbox Live Arcade, Ms. Pac-Man is a straight-up emulation of the original game with no additions beyond an online scoreboard, some achievements, and colorful side graphics that surround the emulation. If the idea of a bare-bones emulation of Ms. Pac-Man sounds like it's worth five bucks to you, then you're in luck. But the standards for Xbox Live Arcade are a bit higher than what this game offers.

  • Big Bumpin Addicting Game News

From the title, I honestly couldn't put it together with bumper cars. So I had no idea what to expect from Big Bumpin'... until I saw the packaging and all was made clear. Big Bumpin' is very difficult for me to review since it depends heavily on color identification for telling which player is yours and there are various color-related identifiers in the levels for various game types, as I'm red-green color-blind. So this game is confusing, but fun. The game types all work online, and include some obvious and some not-so-obvious variations on smashing bumper cars into each other. The whole idea seems somewhat like a paintball game to me, in that you play bumper cars to knock people in cars around because you can't have the actual experience. Just like you play paintball because you aren't going to have the actual experience of a fire fight. However, unlike paintball games, in this game the bumper cars do explode.

  • Formula One Championship Edition Review Addicting Game News

While Americans seem to generally favor NASCAR as their preferred racing league, folks elsewhere tend to flock to Formula One for its extremely technical racing. In truth, the sport's hardcore following is tremendous and gaming fans accept no less than perfection from titles based on it. With slick visuals, quick pacing and promises of racing bliss, Formula One Championship Edition attempts not only to please the sport's direct fans, but general racing junkies the world over as well.

One issue that always creeps up with regards to F1 games is that there's a fine line between the simulation aspects, accessibility and, most importantly, fun. Sony and SCE Studios Liverpool have attempted to address this by providing a number of options that allow anyone to quickly get into the game. Aside from AI difficulty, you'll also find options for turning car damage on and off, adjusting weather variance, racing lines, traction control, automatic spin recovery, brake assist and more.
